I picked up an airbrush for the first time when I was fourteen, and at sixteen I sold my first portrait...

That was more than ten years ago. In the years since, I've let my art fall by the wayside while I pursued a 'safer' career. I obtained a PhD in Chemistry and found a good job in the pharmaceutical industry, but part of me always wondered, 'what if...?'

What if, instead of the safe, well-lit, paved road, I'd followed my passion and taken the unsigned, winding dirt track into the unknown? The wondering never left me, and although I tried to satisfy my creative needs by drawing from time to time (mostly while I should have been studying at Uni), my old airbrush continued to call to me.

'You've been going on about airbrushing for years,' my wife said to me one day. 'If you're going to do it, do it right.'

She's practical like that. So, that's what I'm doing. I bought a brand new, top of the line airbrush, set up a make-shift studio in the garage, and picked up where I left off. It was like riding a bike. I wobbled a little to begin with, almost fell off a couple of times, but soon it was as though we'd never been apart, and the airbrush was like an extension of my body once again.

You might know a bit about airbrushing. Most people associate it with tacky t-shirt designs, cliched skulls and flames on motorcycles, or cringe-worthy pictures of wolves howling at the moon. I believe that airbrushing is one of the most powerful and versatile art mediums available, and should be prominent in the world of fine art. Through airbrushing, and by applying my knowledge to my graphite and charcoal work, my goal is to raise the standard of the custom portrait.

Every portrait I do, whether airbrush, graphite or charcoal, is done with the utmost care and attention to detail, as well as the deepest respect for the subject and the craft. When you buy my work, there is no compromise on quality.

Art is in my blood. I love every second I'm creating (yes, even when the airbrush clogs and I need to take it apart and clean it), and I love being able to deliver something that people haven't seen before; something that's deeply personal to them, and will hold a place of pride in their family for generations.
